Malebo MM Project

Malebo Manamela was one of the bright lights of the South African industry. Her kindness and willingness to assist others, touched all those who entered her orbit. Her selflessness and wonderful humour made a difference to the lives of those around her.

She encouraged a healthy, respectful working environment, believing that this was the fundamental basis for a smooth production. With unsurpassed organizational skills and a strong work ethic, she always went the extra mile and won the love, respect and backing of her crew. She regarded her crew as her ‘babies’ and fussed over them like a mother hen.

Her loss has been profound, so to honour her legacy, and continue to make a difference, we have started the ‘Malebo Manamela Mlangeni Project’ a self-sustainable learnership.

The Maleo Manamela Mlangeni Project was created to be a legacy for the Late Malebo, one of the co-founders of Azania Productions.

Azania Production has always had a strong desire to educate as they go, whether through their content they create or through their work force. We also have a firm belief that through education we can change the path of a person, their immediate family and the community as a whole. We strongly feel that one our industry can take one a good portion of those not employed due to lack of education but also that education could be without charge.

In 2023 we embarked on our first year of the MMM project where we could educate learners in Film Studies, give them an NQF Level 5 qualification whilst incubating them to create an anthology series of short centred around a theme. It is our hope that this series can be sold to create a waqf that will hopefully self-fund the project for the years to come.
